About Hatsize Founded in 2000 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Hatsize Corporation is a privately-held industry pioneer in the design and delivery of custom online labs for virtual, physical and heterogeneous environments. Hatsize clients include some of the largest hardware and software vendors in the world. Companies including Sun Microsystems, IBM, NetApp, Juniper Networks, and Symantec have chosen Hatsize TrueLab™ technology to help take their complex hardware and software products to market. Hatsize focuses on delivering robust and truly unique online lab environments. Powerful customization and collaboration features, in addition to Hatsize's ability to support the broadest range of hardware and operating systems in the industry, provide the tools for SE's, prospects, instructors, students, product managers, partners and customers to easily work together through the convenience of remote collaboration. Hatsize innovation has removed the barriers to access inherent in traditional labs. We help technology communities to easily connect - and efficiently test, train, demo, trial and collaborate - in an advanced on-demand computing environment. Hatsize™ Technology Highlights Hatsize is a lab virtualization industry pioneer and, since we opened our doors in 2000, we've been proud to count many of the world's most advanced technology innovators as our clients and partners. The foundation of our innovative approach to virtual lab technology and design is built upon six important technology decisions we've made a commitment to from the beginning: Open Hatsize started off supporting the training needs of major technology vendors. In designing the Hatsize TrueLab™ system, we knew that we had to manage whatever software or hardware our clients needed to include in their lab environment. So we took an open approach from the start ... with a distributed, modular architecture that is platform independent. What this means today is that Hatsize labs can be much more complex and flexible than the alternatives. For example, Hatsize has delivered labs incorporating storage area networks, virtual tape libraries, Linux®, Windows®, Solaris®, HP-UX, VMware ESX®, Citrix® XenServer, routers, firewalls, hypervisor provisioning to individual students, learning management system integration, accounting system integration, and so forth. This open approach is unique in the industry. Heterogeneous Hatsize delivers and supports virtual, physical and heterogeneous lab environments. Not all hardware technology is (nor likely ever will ever be) completely compatible with virtualization. For example, a client may have older hardware, very new hardware, or very specialized hardware that is not supported by third-party virtualization software. Hatsize recognized early on that this was a critical business issue and it would become increasingly important as the popularity of online labs continued to grow. Today, Hatsize lab environments support storage systems, network devices, virtual machines and physical servers. Many of the world's largest technology vendors work with Hatsize to provide their employees, partners, and customers with access to customized labs, configured with their own products in complex, heterogeneous environments - all accessed over the Web. This hybrid environment capability is unique in the industry. Customizable The Hatsize TrueLab™ system was architected with customization in mind. In order to be platform independent and incorporate non-Intel® hardware, we knew that a modular and customizable system-design approach for our labs was essential. As a result Hatsize can tailor the infrastructure, features and performance capabilities of every TrueLab™ environment configuration to meet the unique needs of each client. The flexible nature of our technology also allows our clients to optimize the lab environment configurations themselves, as the need arises. The degree of customization is unique in the industry. Collaborative Hatsize has incorporated key collaboration capabilities into our TrueLab™ systems that are essential for effective hand-on learning and demonstration environments. The Hatsize team has deep expertise in the design, delivery and management of online learning labs. We've been providing virtual lab training solutions to Fortune 500 technology companies since 2000. For example, Hatsize labs allow end-users and instructors to observe (and control) each other's progress in virtual "over the shoulder" style, chat between users and overseers, and broadcast lab screens to all participants. Image collaboration can also be made available to employee teams and, if desired, their partners or customers. This level of integrated collaboration is unique in the industry. Managed The freedom from traditional barriers made possible by online lab technology is counterbalanced by the need for comprehensive lab management and control functionality. Hatsize offers clients the choice of hosted TrueLab™ environments or on-site virtual lab implementations with Hatsize remote management. All TrueLab™ systems have built-in lab management capabilities for lab administrators and end-users including single sign-on, learning system integration, a scheduling management portal, Hatsize StateSave™ virtual machine instance saving, automated image sharing, and usage tracking. Sales and marketing groups can also track the sales impact of client demos and activity levels of their team and sales network partners. Some clients have worked with Hatsize to develop equipment utilization and geographic demo trend reports to optimize their efforts. This range of lab management tools is unique in the industry. Secure Security, reliability and availability are the performance benchmarks of the robust online lab environments provided by Hatsize. We've made key technology choices in this area to ensure our clients get the lab access they need, when they need it, without ever compromising their company's data and infrastructure security. For example, Hatsize TrueLab™ environments are launched from a Web browser, with no installation of external software required. Also, firewall and Internet proxy traversal is seamlessly and securely managed with Hatsize tunneling technology to ensure firewalls are never "temporarily" opened to access specific ports (a significant and too-often-tolerated security risk); students don't waste precious learning time trying to gain access to their lab; and SE's aren't required to perform troublesome work-arounds at client sites. Our choice of technology partners, all recognized leaders, ensures our clients securely access world-class products and services. For example, our data center partner, is housed in a 12,077 sq.m. (130,000 sq.ft.) building that is one of the most secure data centers in North America. This ensures maximum security, reliability and availability for Hatsize clients' critical applications and services, around the clock. This level of security is a world-class standard in the industry.
